The plot in Genoa City today on the problems of the haves and the wishes they did.

Theo Vanderway, long lost relative to Dina Abbott Mergeron, is bitter that he has been all but shunned from her will while his already rich Abbott cousins seem to take their wealth for granted.

This begrudging jealousy is puzzling.  Theo, though left out of one Abbott will feels bad, is still welcome in the family, and moreover there are plenty of opportunities which the Abbotts have all but handed him.

His talent?  He is a professional “influencer,” which means he tells you what your taste in arts and entertainment ought to be.  You’d think someone with such a job that requires criticism and judgment for everything would have thicker skin than he is showing.

When I was 12, I, like so many of you, already lost 3 close family members to battles with cancer.
Alyvia Alyn Lind, as Faith Newman, does a most wondrous job of showing exactly how it feels to have the weight of this disease hurts you while at the same time having the determination not to allow it to affect her life more than her mother, played by Sharon Case, would want.

The song “My Brave Face” by Paul McCartney was written as a reaction to the death of Paul’s wife Linda.  Linda also died of cancer and the emotions one goes through in trying to stop an invisible killer could only be turned into a silver-lining song by the best of songwriters and performers — as that of a Sir Paul.

Where does the Machiavelli statement about “dealing out severities all at once” versus “giving out benefits slowly” apply to this episode?

Machiavelli on dealing with severities versus favors

I included the idea because Devon, upon being betrayed by two people, both of whom he gave out benefits slowly, dealt his reaction with a sudden harshness.  Many would say, “How very un-Devon! He should be quick to forgive, he has made mistakes himself.”

This “nice-guy” Devon was being kinder by dealing his responses swiftly, harshly and directly.  The alternative is the Billy Abbott personality flaw: instead of confronting the person or people with whom he wants to settle an issue or right a wrong, he sneaks around, takes his time, uses secret surveillance, lowering himself beneath the person he even went after, as Adam is more sympathetic at this point than Billy.

Devon is a true adult.  he was not going to sneak around and sabatoge with Dr. Nate Hastings or live-in partner Dr. Elena Dawson slowly, drawing out pain for a woman he loved with all his heart, a cousin he trusted with all his mind, and a free-clinic completed with the two that helped the most in need of that health care, feeding Devon’s spirit.

The episode s47e113 featured the speed with which Lola was able to move on with her life despite the disappointing relationship and marriage to Kyle.

Phyllis as played by Michelle Stafford was especially good as she kinda stole the episode with her rhythm in her encounters wither Abby and Phillip “Chance” Chancellor IV. It is difficult to be sarcastic and not be nasty, but Michelle is left handed – she does it well!

Greg Rikaart is the actor who plays character Kevin Fisher who electing on what parenting especially a male child might be like gives off a fantastic portrayal of the man always separated from the father, just as in Like A Salesman, Wall Street or the Young and the f-ing Restless!

YR summary – Jason Thompson talking to Mishael Morgan as Billy talking to Mandy

Having as his brother, Genoa City District Attorney Michael Baldwin raised by a man only known to me, who began watching #YR in 2006, as “Terrible Tom.” Of the thing Terrible Tom is most known for is sadistically locking young son Kevin in closets, and using one’s imagination, if a father would do that, what would they not do? Upon reflecting on the fact that in a few weeks Kevin is going to be a father himself, the actor Rikaart, with time off to reflect after deciding that having lived most his life on the Young and the Restless it was time to attend to his own family, and probably not look back. Rikaart had several guest weeks in returning to different rounds of actors, and while people came and went, Kevin and Greg are stronger than ever.

What happens when you work that well with others? You get the lines of the year – like this, “I wasn’t raised by a good man, I wasn’t raised to be a good man, what makes me think I can handle this?” Without the experience of that of Greg and his return, the great show today has no tone. Great move for all, Kevin coming back. Funny how he is a major character not aligned with any one of the major families in town, but when he took his child abuse and turned it into good, he joined the The Genoa City Police Department as its technical expert – his business turned into family, with a little help from Michael, Sharon, Paul and Lauren.
