In Genoa City, two people are missing and thus the center of the story: Philip “Chance” Chancellor IV, husband of Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor, need-to-know government secret agent at levels those of us in regular civilization don’t want to know, and Mariah Copeland, who with biological input from friend Devon Hamilton is carrying Abby’s unborn child.

Young and the Restless
season 48, episode 205

In Los Angeles, we learn that if one is going to work from home, and the owner of your business is calling you on your phone, you ought to put your clothes on, or at least put your shirt on, especially if the owner has only one demand of you as Chief Operating Officer and head of the Legal Department. Apparently, the joy that the former and future jewelry maker, Quinn, brings to the man with tens of millions of dollars to lose, Carter Walton, makes putting one’s entire reputation, life, money, family, company and business. What is that power? Sexual desire, at least for those men under the spell of Quinn, or those women under the spell of Carter, or whatever. Not judging the characters – both of them keep telling each other a version of “this is the last time” only to be followed by another trip to bed.

The Bold and the Beautiful
season 34
episode 204

On The Young and the Restless, the episode is features Nick and Summer played by Joshua Morrow and Hunter King in scenes that depict the hardest of all human encounters: the long, bittersweet goodbye. Meanwhile in Genoa City Lily has overcome cancer, a dead husband and a 6 month prison sentence for manslaughter as she giggles about Ashland Locke’s condition. At the Abbott mansion, as Harrison has moved in with Tara, is finally introduced the fabulous Aunt Traci and Aunt Ashley while Billy and Jack round out the scene for a full-Abbott celebration.

The Bold and the Beautiful
season 34, episode 197

On The Bold and The Beautiful, Ridge deduces that Justin Barber must be lying about Thomas because of the ‘Eye On Fashion’ related “he left his phone here on business” excuse. Ridge, citing how young people do not make a move without personal cell phones asserts to Justin, “He wouldn’t have made it to the elevator” much less “take a business trip” without his cell phone. Liam is making a better case for himself than Justin is, yet all he is getting as a reward is a trip from L.A. County Jail to the Maximum Security system, whatever that means to Detective Baker, the Chief of the L.A. police department.

In Genoa City, it looks like Ben Rayburn has returned and it does not look normal. He is already stalking Abby by staring at her through private spaces and asking her on dates when she is expecting a child through surrogate Mariah while she waits for her heroic husband Phillip “Chance” Chancellor IV. I see a creepy toxic male stalker storyline, as predictable as that would be, upon the show.

In Los Angeles, we learn that you don’t keep all your secrets with one person, especially if that person is also your personal lawyer. Problem is we see is if that personal lawyer doesn’t respect you, you life will end. Negativity pervades The Bold and the Beautiful’s Los Angeles! Lesson: if you own a family company business, make sure your lawyer is well compensated. Though, Eric Forrester learned that lesson and he got wildly embarrassed anyway. Well, at least he and Ridge are not in the L.A. County Jail, probably not as comfortable as Bel Air and Spencer Manor’s views.

On the Bold and the Beautiful, Paris Buckingham showed that though she may be fantastic as a new worker at the Forrester Foundation®, her social skills consist of voyeurism, gossip and blind confused manipulation.

The Bold and the Beautiful

On The Young and the Restless, Sally Spectra has elevated herself into a level of manipulative evil not seen on the show since the Anicelli family.

What I find most interesting is who is on the show and who isn’t. And why they are still here or absent from our favorite daytime dramas.

My prediction, by the way, even though an underdog by 3 1/2 points, is Bucs over Chiefs, as published 5 PM on the day before the “big game.”

Friday’s episode features Annika Noelle as Hope Logan.

The [original] Hope, Kimberlay Matula left the program. The shoes to fill were unique and well known to fans of the show. In other words not enviable.

This version of Hope in Annika resonates with me insofar as her bold, silent-when-needed poise and strength. My bet is that she was an excellent actress who has gotten much better while on the show working with the best in the business.
